Daniel Louis was born in Port au Prince in 1955. His father made metal frames for roofs and his mother was a dress maker. He didn't get a lot of schooling. He enlisted for three years in the marines (Haiti had armed forces prior to Aristide). He started to paint at the age of 25. He is totally selftaught. He specializes in jungles scenespainted in a naive style but very finely detailed. He has exhibited abroad and have recently decorated a hospital in Jamaica with large canvases.
